Meet the Team

Dr. Amelia

Veterinarian and Co-founder

amelia grew up in pittsburgh, pa. she earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine from the ohio state university and completed her shelter medicine internship through the university of florida.

She has spent her entire career inside animal shelters - fighting hard for animals waiting on a home they deserve. she is a certified euthanasia instructor, which means she trains shelter workers across the state to perform euthanasia humanely. she is also fear free certified, hoping to always create an environment for the pet and owner that prioritizes emotional well-being. The experiences taught her that compassion isn’t “nice to have” - it is the whole point.

When she’s not with patients, you’ll find her trying to sneak in a coffee run, doing embroidery while her baby sleeps or gardening.

Paul

paul came to shelter work a little later in his career, in his home state of rhode island, and never looked back. Paul is a certified dog trainer and behaviorist holding both cpdt-ka and cbcc-ka credentials. Paul is also fear free certified, and does everything he can to reduce fear, anxiety and stress in order to improve your pet’s emotional well-being. he has spent years working as a behaviorist inside animal shelters, which means he is really good at reading animals and even better at reading the people who love them.

these days you can find paul enjoying his new role as “dad”, walking his dogs on trails, holding a good beer, or all at the same time.
